A fire on March 19, 1981 displaced 525 works and caused $8 million in damages. Mayor Paul Swisher stated that 10% of the Kernersville workforce was affected.

Located on Highway 150 just north of Kernersville, NC this 320,000 sq ft building included finishing, warehousing and distributing facilities. In 1988 Sara Lee Corporation purchased Adams-Mills, making them a part of the Sara Lee Sock Company.
