The textile industry has played a fundamental role in the North Carolina economy.  This can be said specifically of Kernersville, North Carolina.  Beginning in the 1890’s, the textile industry began to shape the town of Kernersville.  It did not grow in the shape of a typical mill town but the influence of the textile industry can still been seen today as Highland Industries maintains its Kernersville operation.

This collection includes information and photographs of the mill buildings and the people working in them as well as newsletters from the Adams Millis Company, and copies of patents for knitting patterns created and made here in Kernersville.
